Leesa was born and raised in the great state of Georgia.
In 2009, she and her husband Mike settled in Toombs County after deciding they wanted to raise their two young boys in a small town.
As the home of Mike’s family for six generations, New Branch, just south of Lyons was an easy choice. The hardworking, dedicated people of this community make it a great place to raise a family and call home!
Leesa and Mike met at the University of Georgia and have been married since 1996.
They have two sons who are Eagle scouts. All the Hagans are active members at Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons and are involved in the community.
After graduating from UGA with a degree in education, Leesa began a teaching career that has included 13 years of classroom experience in public, private, and home school.
Leesa served as the Chairman of the Toombs County Republican Party from 2019 – 2021. She first ran for that office because she wanted to grow the local party to ensure that the hard-working, innovative people in Toombs County are heard in Atlanta and beyond. Furthermore, she doesn’t believe in complaining about something unless she is willing to work to improve it. She also believes strongly that concerned members of the community should feel comfortable reaching out to their elected officials at every level.
Leesa was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in the 2021 special election.
She serves the 156th district which includes all of Toombs, Montgomery, and Wheeler counties and portions of Tattnall, Telfair, and Ben Hill counties.
She currently serves on the following House committees:
- Rural Development, Chairman
- Agriculture and Consumer Affairs
- Appropriations
- Natural Resources and Environment
- Industry and Labor
- Transportation
